Final Conference

The final conference of the Anthropocene project was held online on 27 January 2022. The event was organised by the project coordinator, RenaSup (FR). The results of the project were entirely presented to students and teachers. They then had the possibility to ask questions on the topic of the project and discuss it with the project partners. Finally, Inforef (BE) presented the main features of the project portal where all the results are uploaded and ready to be used for the end-users.

International Training activity of the Anthropocene project

Teachers and experts of the project partners institutions met in Paris in order to be trained and discuss together about the “Challenges of digital and environmental double acceleration and how to work with the class”. The training was an excellent opportunity not only to improve skills and competences but also to share experiences and methods on how to raise students attention and awareness.

Virtual Meeting

Renasup organised and moderated the fifth meeting of the project partnership, that was held virtually on the 11 October 2021. The meeting saw the active participation of all the project partners and was an important opportunity to wrap up the project state of art and plan the final steps to finalise the project. In particular Renasup and Inforef presented the final activities missing to finalise the IO2 and the current situation on the IO3. Then, CNFETP presented the programme of the Training Activity which will be held online in November where the schools partners of the project will participate with their teachers to understand the aims of the project and its results. At the end of the Training Activity the teachers will be ready to use the material produced and available in the Platform with their students.

E-learning platform is available!

The resources specifically produced by experts to help teachers have a better scientific understanding of topics related to digital and environmental accelerations are now available at: https://homodata-anthropocene.eu/axe2.php. The concepts of Anthropocene and big data, their threats and opportunities, are presented, deciphered, and put in perspective.

Heading towards the Teachers’ Toolkit!

While finalising the work for the e-learning package the project partners agreed the structure of the Toolkit that will provide teachers with ready to be used Lesson Plans and tools/ didactic material to be used with their students to raise their awareness and comprehension of today and tomorrow challenges in the Anthropocene era.

Hard work for the creation of the E-learning platform contents! – Part 2

Project partners are getting ready to present their contents of the e-learning platform that will be discussed upon in March during the next transnational meeting. The experts, the teachers and the technicians are concentrating their efforts to answer to stimulating and challenging questions as: What is climate acceleration and what are its already visible and future effects? What are the economic and societal challenges: a way of life and a set of values that are questioned - Food management and waste prevention. The market economy debated for sustainable development that respects the environment. The data collection process , how technologies that have exploded the capacities of collection and storage of sensible information.

Hard work for the creation of the E-learning platform contents! – Part 1

Project partners are working hard in order to respect the planned deadlines for producing the contents of the e-learning platform. The e-learning will be organised in three chapters for each of the two main thematic areas covered by the project “Climate and environmental acceleration” and “Numerical acceleration and big data”.

Anthropocene is ready for the next step!

After the finalisation of the Study on the situation in Europe and on the basis of the evidences and needs highlighted through the direct contact with the stakeholders, the Anthropocene project is now ready to move to the creation of the Teachers e-Learning Platform. The platform is an ambitious tool that will provide secondary school teachers with a reference virtual place where to find reliable, informative and easy to use information to raise their awareness and skills about the future key challenges with reference to environmental and big data issues.

Renasup organised and moderated the third meeting of the project partnership, that was held virtually on the 26 and 27 November 2020. The meeting saw the active participation of all the project partners and was an important opportunity to wrap up the project state of art and plan the next steps. In particular Renasup and Inforef presented the final results reached with the IO1 – Study on the Situation on Europe and the related secion on the Anthropocene platform (https://homodata-anthropocene.eu/resultats.php). The section was appreciated and approved and project partners agreed on translating some of its contents. Then the project partners carried out an in depth discussion to further clarify and define the activities to be done on IO2 – Teachers Learning Platform and agreed on the definitive structure and syllabus of the training package, also distributing tasks and responsibilities for the development of the contents.

The transnational report is now available in English, French, Italian and Romanian and provides a comparative analysis and overview on how education systems address environmental and digital issues and to what extent teachers and students are satisfied with the situation. School teachers and students, how do they perceive climate and environment issues?

The Anthropocene Network is growing fast!

Thanks to the effort of the project partners the Anthropocene network is constantly growing. More than 30 schools have joined the project as Associated partners, ensuring the involvement of more 200 teachers and 1400 students in the project activities. This is an important result for the project and it is very promising for its capacity to have a real impact at national and transnational level. National Reports have been edited and finalised

The Anthropocene project partners experts finalised their study to determine how education systems address environmental and digital issues, particularly in official curricula and related subjects, and if, how and to what extent teachers and students are satisfied with the situation. The national reports created in order to present the data collected in each country through direct interviews with teachers and students are now available at https://anthropocene.pixel-online.org/project-outputs.php.

Virtual Meeting

Renasup organized and coordinated the second meeting of the Anthropocene – Homo Data in the Anthropocene Era project, which took place on 2 April 2020 making use of the ZOOM platform. Representatives of the project partners actively participated to the meeting in order to jointly discuss the state of art of the activities and in particular the development and finalisation of the National and Transnational reports focused on how education systems address environment and digital issues, particularly in curricula and related subjects. Also, during the meeting Inforef presented the structure of the Online Portal of the project and project partners shared their ideas about the creation of the Teachers’ e-learning platform and Teachers Toolkit.

The project brochure is now available

The Anthropocene project brochure is now ready and can be easily downloaded and printed in the related section of the Portal (https://anthropocene.pixel-online.org/brochure.php). The Brochure will soon be available in English, French, Italian and Romanian.

Questionnaire for teachers and students

The questionnaires for teachers and students are now ready and the project partners can start administrating them to the involved teachers and students. At the end of the process, 3 different national reports will be produced in order to describe the current situation in Europe related to the teaching of environmental issues and big data.

Involvement of end users

The project partners are currently involving teachers and students in order for them to cooperate in the production and testing of the Intellectual Outputs. The first step for them will be to analyze the situation in Europe related to the teaching of topic concerning environmental issues and big data.

Kick-off Meeting

The Kick-off meeting took place in Florence on 23 - 24 October 2019. Jean-Marc Petit and Lorenzo Martellini presented the project and the activities to be carried out to the partners. The meeting was also an opportunity for the partners to get to know each other and to discuss all details related to the project's activities. At the end of the meeting, all the partners had a clear view of the future project's implementation, the financial rules and the next activity which consists in the production of the situation in Europe related to the teaching of topic concerning environmental issues and big data.

Anthropocene Project

The European project entitled Anthropocene – Homo Data in the Anthropocene Era was written and coordinated by Pixel in cooperation with the project applicant and scientific coordinator RENASUP based in Paris (France). The project was funded by the European Commission through the French National Agency for the Erasmus+ Programme in the framework of the Erasmus+ Programme, KA2 - Strategic Partnerships for School Education. The aim of the Anthropocene is to help prepare young people to the new environment (economic and digital acceleration) allowing them to study how political, social and educational spheres address these challenges and to raise awareness in the educational sector.
